Services and Schemes

During the pandemic, we have been delivering a number of projects and activities based in and around the districts of St Albans and Hertsmere.

We have been working alongside Community Help Hertfordshire, a partnership of voluntary sector organisations, to deliver essential services to residents in vulnerable situations. These include:

  • A shopping delivery service
  • A telephone befriending service
  • A prescription medicine collection service
  • A Digital Inclusion project - aiming to provide residents with the skills and equipment necessary to stay connected through technology.

We also deliver a number of other services, including the Handyperson service that carries out simple DIY tasks for those in vulnerable situations who can’t do these themselves.

Our Community Car scheme provides a door-to-door service to those residents who struggle with public transport, and our shopper bus service ferries residents to local supermarkets, where they can do their shopping with the assistance of volunteers.

Throughout the pandemic our volunteers have continued to maintain our Sensory Garden. Our Centre for Voluntary Service has also continued to hold weekly virtual coffee mornings for member organisations, that have provided support for individuals often working at home.
