Hospital Ward Companion

The Hospital Ward Companion volunteers assist in the Herts and Essex Community Hospital Bishop Stortford. They assist with the general day to day running of the wards completing tasks including serving meals, answering the telephone or call bells, speaking to patients, restocking PPE and other supplies, assisting patients using technology to call family, and generally making the patients more comfortable and less anxious.

The volunteers have had a full DBS check and completed online training courses including safeguarding, confidential, equality and health and safety. A risk assessment is also completed on arrival with volunteers when they arrive for their shift.
