International NHS Buddy

All about the International NHS Buddy project

This project is aimed at welcoming international NHS employees who have just arrived in the UK to settle into their new surrounding and community.

The NHS employee is paired with a volunteer buddy who acts as a social point of contact in helping the employee settle into UK life and life in their local area. This is often meeting up for a coffee, going for a leisurely walk in the local area, telephone calls and offering any guidance on local services and finding permanent accommodation.

Day Trips

Communities 1st also organise day trips for the new arrivals allowing them to venture out, socialise and meet other employees who have also come from various countries which volunteers can also be involved in.

Please note that this service is not related to anything medical and is purely social
