Description: Volunteers are required to help with the varied tasks involved in looking after the 170 acre site, its buildings and exhibitions. Assist with projects, clearing, cleaning, repairs, decorating etc inside and outside. Maintaining this important historic site and making it possible for visitors to enjoy the walks, views and events in safety and comfort. Time: Various times = Monday - Friday all year round. Duties 1. To assist the Royal Gunpowder Mills staff in keeping the site well maintained & presentable to provide a safe environment and a high quality visitor attraction. Duties could involve working inside or out of doors, where the need arises. 2. To help maintain a clean and tidy environment, including litter picking and emptying rubbish bins, sweeping paths, grass cutting, ensuring everywhere is safe, clean and tidy. 3. To carry out minor maintenance repairs and painting/decorating. 4. To work on projects as directed and agreed by RGM staff. 5. To carry out other appropriate duties from time to time. 6. To be prepared to engage with the visitors in a friendly and helpful manner. 7. To feedback comments, favourable or otherwise, to the Duty Manager. 8. To be responsible for materials/equipment and items used in conjunction with the duties carried out. 9. To be vigilant and, when necessary take appropriate action to ensure the safety of all on site and the security of facilities and contents. 10. To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company's Health and Safety Policy and other relevant policies.
Practical Considerations: Junction 2b of M25. A121 for Waltham Abbey. Nearest train is Waltham Cross: Short bus ride to Town Centre on 211, 212, 213, 250, 251, 252, 505. 10 minute walk from Town Centre. Car parking available. Main entrance in Beaulieu Drive. Vehicles may be parked in the visitor car park.
