Full Description:
Following the negative effects of the pandemic it is more important than ever that our older adults and those who support them understand the benefits of being physically active, leading to longer healthier lives. Live Longer Better Champions will enable the principles of the Live Longer
Better in Hertfordshire movement to benefit more of the county’s older residents, quicker.
Each volunteer will gain access to a series of training materials to better understand the principles and theories that underpin Live Longer Better in Hertfordshire. This will upskill individuals who are supporting older adults to
increase independence and self-efficacy. Whilst completing the training programme, Champions have the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals completing the course, increasing Hertfordshire’s network
of organisations and individuals championing Live Longer Better values. Volunteers will also receive branded clothing to be worn when advocating Live Longer Better. This may involve future access to accredited qualifications(tbc).
Objectives(s):
Gain a thorough understanding of the Live Longer Better in
Hertfordshire principles
Proactively seek opportunities to advocate the benefits of Active
Ageing to Hertfordshire’s older residents. This could be online or face to face, possible opportunities include visiting sheltered housing, u3a groups, lunch clubs or any other existing older adult provision.
Signpost attendees to relevant resources to find relevant physical activity opportunities.
