Computer Friendly is a non-profit organisation staffed with friendly and experienced unpaid volunteers delivering low cost computer training in the community since 2002.Our objective is to help anyone in St Albans and District, including disadvantaged and excluded people, to gain computer skills. These people could include the retired, unemployed or disabled from diverse groups.

A Marketing Volunteer is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote the charity’s digital objectives. The duties include producing and editing “marketing” content, tracking the reach of campaigns and conducting market research to identify trends that improve the charity’s services.

Full Description:
Activities include:

• Identifying changing clients’ needs and tracking how we are satisfying them

• Identifying new demographics or regions for targeted marketing campaigns

• Strategising on and contributing to the marketing plan

• Liaising with other CF teams (Drop-ins, Courses, Bookers etc.) to identify projects and campaigns

• Producing marketing content for social media

• Writing, editing and publishing marketing articles and other written content

• Monitoring key performance indicators to track the success of marketing campaigns

• Reporting results of marketing campaigns to Board of Trustees

• Continue to develop the CF brand

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Increase the number of clients using CF services

• Run printed media ads to generate interest and clients

• Research new online media opportunities that may benefit the charity including social media, development of blogs, and Ads.

• Increase web traffic from targeted personas

• Identify / develop partnerships with other organisations

• Explore, manage and increase awareness of the charity brand and products on 3rd party sites

• Manage strategic & structured e-marketing campaigns

• Produce reports to include – email marketing reports / Ad reports / website analytics etc.

• Assist with maintaining, updating and optimising the charity’s websites

• Project manage new website development as required

Skills and Abilities

• Good communication skills (verbal and written)

• Write and dispatch marketing campaigns

• Knowledge of impactful use of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, X(Twitter)

• Eye for a creative design

• Project management skills to plan, organise and complete tasks to a defined timeline

• Microsoft Office, WordPress, Google Analytics, WordPress websites

• Product Marketing experience to raise awareness and sell our product offers

• Ability to generate meaningful reports for internal and external use

• Fluency in English

• Able work as part of a team and independently
