ABOUT US
Citizens Advice Hertsmere is an independent charity specialising in providing confidential information and advice to assist local people with benefits, debt, consumer, housing and other problems.
The twin aims of our service are to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and to improve the policies and principles that affect people's lives.
We are shortly to launch a new initiative aiming to create a new revenue stream sourced from businesses located in the Hertsmere community that we support, and we are seeking two volunteer fundraisers to spearhead the project.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As a volunteer fundraiser, you will play a pivotal role in securing the necessary funding to maintain and expand our programs aimed at supporting the population of Hertsmere. Full guidance / scripts will be provided, and you will be able to rely on the support of our local team and Trustees.
The roles will be hybrid with attendance required at the Borehamwood office for training and team meetings.
This position is ideal for individuals with a desire to make a tangible difference to our community through innovative fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the execution of fundraising campaigns
• Directly engaging with local businesses to increase awareness and raise funds
• Building and maintaining ongoing relationships with donors / sponsors
• Accurately recording fundraising activities and managing donations
• Regularly updating and providing feedback to the Trustees and CEO
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
We seek a couple of individuals who can work flexibly and make a time commitment of approximately 3-5 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of twelve months.
Core requirements of the roles:
• Prior experience in sales, marketing or fundraising
• Demonstrable proficiency in managing multiple tasks, ensuring efficient execution of fundraising activities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey Citizens Advice Hertsmere’s core message and persuade potential donors
• Committed to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice Hertsmere
THE BENEFITS YOU WILL RECEIVE
Our volunteers are special people. Whilst there are many different paths that lead someone to volunteer, we recognise that the benefits can be personal, social, and even professional.
Working in this role, you will:
• gain experience in not-for-profit fundraising
• work with a dynamic, supportive team of like-minded individuals committed to supporting their community
• receive full training in our policies and procedures, with specific additional guidance on our fundraising approach
THE DIFFERENCE YOU WILL MAKE
By joining our team as a volunteer fundraiser, you will play a crucial role in generating additional income for our charity. Your efforts in raising funds will directly support the development and implementation of vital programs helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
You will also be helping local businesses develop a greater understanding of the part they can play in building a cohesive local community in Hertsmere.
