Support Us

Our vision for the future is a top-class, sustainable service for all voluntary and community organisations based or operating across the districts of St. Albans and Hertsmere.

To achieve this, we need funding.

Any money given to us helps not just one front-line service, but many - we can multiply the effect of your money to make it achieve more.

We are a charity and like most charities, we struggle to find funding to keep our services going.  Full information on our funding is included in our annual reports.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone that has supported us over the past year and helped to make this possible. If you would like to support us this year here are some easy ways you can do so...

Remember A Charity Week runs from 5th-11th September 2022

To celebrate the launch of Remember A Charity Week, we are asking supporters of across the districts of St. Albans and Hertsmere to get involved and help Communities 1st now and in the future. As a loyal supporter, you can make a lasting contribution to future generations by including a gift to help a local charity in your Will.

(To find out more, click on the Remember A Charity button at the bottom of the screen.)

Leave a Legacy in Your Will

Leave a lasting legacy to the communities of St Albans and Hertsmere by including a gift in your Will to Communities 1st.

Writing a Will is an important way to ensure your wishes are carried out and that your savings and possessions are given to the people you choose to receive them.

Why leave a gift to charity in your Will?

Charitable legacies are exempt from Inheritance tax, which means you can reduce the overall tax bill for your loved ones by naming a charity in your Will.

Leaving a gift to charity does not have to mean leaving a large amount of money. A small gift can make a huge difference to a local charity. Charitable legacies are vital in enabling Communities 1st to continue our work across the districts of St. Albans and Hertsmere.

How to leave money in your Will?

To leave us money in your will, consult your solicitor.

You can leave either a set sum or a percentage of your estate (perhaps after giving the majority of it to family). It is important to give your solicitor our full name: Communities 1st and our Charity Number: 1127066. Please get in touch with our chief executive if you need any more advice on this.

(To find out more, click on the Wills & Legacies Guidance button at the bottom of the screen.)
