Our Community Transport service is here for anyone who needs a little extra help getting around. If you find using public transport difficult, have mobility issues or just want to get out and meet new friends, our wheelchair accessible vehicles and caring team are ready to support your journey.

Fixed Route
Community Bus to Jimmy Macs

Take a ride to Jimmy Macs with our Community Bus! We pick up residents in Welwyn and Hatfield and bring them directly to this welcoming charity for those 55+ and individuals with learning disabilities.
At Jimmy Mac's, you can enjoy a refreshing change of scenery, make new friends, and take part in fun activities. Our buses are wheelchair-friendly and have low floors, making it easy for everyone to get on and off. It's a simple and affordable way to travel. Hop on our Community Bus and enjoy a day at Jimmy Mac's!
Day Trippers

Day Trippers, organised by Communities 1st, offers enjoyable outings for elderly residents and those who find it hard to get out on their own. With our friendly door-to-door service, we’ll pick you up between 9:00 and 10:00 am and return you home by 1:30 to 2:00 pm, making the whole day easy and relaxed.
Our Day trippers embark on fun and popular journeys in and around Hertfordshire.
Tailored Route
Shopper Bus

If carrying heavy grocery bags or navigating crowded public transport is a challenge, the Shopper Bus by Communities 1st can help make your shopping easier. Our friendly bus picks you up right from your doorstep, eliminating the need for bus stops or complicated routes.
Our helpful drivers are ready to assist with bags and reaching items on the shelves. Our wheelchair-accessible buses feature low floors for easy access. Plus, the Shopper Bus is an affordable alternative to expensive taxis, allowing you to shop without breaking the bank.
Community Car

If you have mobility issues that make using buses or trains difficult, the Community Car service from Communities 1st is here to help. We provide safe, affordable transportation, with volunteers picking you up at your door—no need to wait at bus stops.
Most cars can fit folded wheelchairs, and we can arrange accessible vehicles if needed. Your safety is our priority for trips to the supermarket or medical appointments. The Community Car Scheme serves Borehamwood, Shenley, and Potters Bar and now covers the entire Hertsmere area, including Aldenham, Bushey, Elstree, Radlett, Ridge, South Mimms, and Well End.

Communities 1st offers a simple and affordable community transport service, designed to be easy for everyone to use.
Joining the Service:
- To use the service, you need to become a member. It costs £10 a year, and the membership runs from September to August.
- Once you're a member, you can use any of our discounted services that are available in your area, and there’s always room for your shopping bags!
Low Fare for Each Journey:
- You’ll pay a small fare for each trip based on what transport service you are using. We work hard to keep costs low.
