The Compassionate Community Connectors service by Communities 1st helps vulnerable local residents stay independent and dignified in their own homes. Originally launched to assist people during the pandemic, the service now supports anyone facing isolation.

From grocery shopping to dog walking, we're here to lend a hand when you need it most.

Our Services

  • Shopping Assistance: Staff or volunteers will pick up and deliver groceries if you're unable to shop yourself.
  • Dog Walking or Pet Sitting: Volunteers provide pet care when you're unable, whether due to health or mobility challenges.
  • Telephone Befriending: Friendly calls from the team offer emotional support and companionship to combat loneliness.
  • Postcard Pals: Enjoy exchanging postcards or letters with children to build intergenerational connections.
  • Telephone Tech Support: Volunteers offer phone guidance for video chats or online orders, helping you feel more confident with technology.
  • Walking Buddies: Volunteers accompany you on walks, providing companionship and helping you rebuild confidence.

Please note that we provide this service in Hertsmere, St Albans, Broxbourne and East Herts. That said, please do not hesitate to contact us if your residence in a different area. If it is possible, we'll find you the best alternatives available for your requirements.
