Communities 1st supports people who recruit and manage volunteers as part of their day-to-day role. This may include Volunteer Managers, Coordinators, Administrators and even other volunteers, such as leaders of sports clubs or faith groups. 

Helping volunteer managers is key to building strong, sustainable volunteer programmes. They are the people who recruit, train and motivate volunteers - often juggling multiple responsibilities with limited resources. 

When volunteer managers are well-supported through training, peer networks and practical tools, they're better equipped to create a positive experience for volunteers. This in turn reduces turnover and ensures work aligns with the organisation's goals.

6 Point Promise accreditation

The Valuing Volunteer Management initiative (also known as the 6 Point Promise) is a Hertfordshire-wide scheme to raise awareness of the need for good practice in volunteer management. 

Because there are many facets to the initiative and opportunities for learning and growth, this is a great option for big and small organisations alike.

Advice and assistance

Your organisation may benefit from one-to-one advice and support with our Volunteer Centre and CVS teams. In this session, we can discuss any concerns or queries you have, strategise your next moves, and plan for the future. 

This service is complimentary to members. All you need to do is email memberservices@communities1st.org.uk or call 01727 649940 to get started. If your organisation is not a member, but would like to explore options, please get in touch.

Stronger Together Networks

Stronger Together Networks are for local charities and community groups to connect, collaborate and support each other's missions. Members are welcome to attend meetings to share resources, knowledge and opportunities for working in partnership, building meaningful connections and making a difference together. 

This network offers the chance for Volunteer Managers to come together, discuss challenges, share best practices and network.

Volunteer management training

Join our Recruiting, Retaining and Managing Volunteers training - an interactive one-day course providing comprehensive exploration of the challenges and best practices for volunteer management. It's designed for staff and teams responsible for overseeing volunteers.

 This course is also an ideal way to get started on 6 Point Promise accreditation.
