We offer a range of useful managed services, including:

Bid and Tender Writing

Our grant funding support is designed to guide your organisation through every step of the process. From conducting a tailored search of potential funding sources to providing a shortlist of suitable options, we ensure you’re targeting the right opportunities. Before applying, we can review your governance, policies, and procedures to confirm you’re fully prepared.

If you need help with specific application forms, we offer expert guidance to make the process smoother, and for those requiring more in-depth assistance, our bid-writing service can handle the application on your behalf. Already have an application ready? We can review it and provide constructive feedback to strengthen your submission.

Members receive two hours of free support, with additional services charged at £30 per hour (discounts may be avaliable). Non-members are charged £40 per hour.

Bookkeeping

While there’s no strict format for record-keeping, charities legally must maintain accurate records of sales, expenses, and purchases to avoid fines for inadequate documentation.

Communities 1st provides a flexible bookkeeping service, offering both short-term cover (e.g., for staff sickness) and long-term arrangements.

Our community development team leverages extensive experience and strong partnerships with organisations and residents to foster meaningful collaboration, enhance decision-making, and maximise project impact. 

DBS Checks

Organisations working with children and vulnerable adults can conduct DBS checks on staff and volunteers in regular, close contact with these groups.

Standard and Enhanced DBS checks disclose both spent and unspent convictions, along with cautions, warnings, or reprimands, unless protected by law. Enhanced checks may also include relevant information provided by the police.

Communities 1st, registered with a DBS umbrella body, are here to process checks for your staff and volunteers efficiently.

Equipment Hire

Our equipment hire service is here to support groups who may not find it practical or cost-effective to invest in their own tools.

We provide essentials like projectors, screens, laptops, tablets, cameras, flip charts, and display boards—giving you the freedom to focus on your goals without the burden of ownership. Please see the Communities 1st Price List below on this site for information about pricing.

Graphic Design

Hot Desks

Photo ID Badges

Durable 85x55mm plastic ID cards, the size and thickness of a bank card, are perfect for use with lanyards. Printed in full color and available in landscape or portrait orientation, they can be single or double-sided.

  • Custom Design: Includes photos, logos, names, titles, departments, background images, and sequential or employee numbers.
  • Fast Delivery: Ready within 3 days of data receipt and template approval.

Printing

Communities 1st has a high speed laser copier which we are able to print to directly from our computers, ensuring fantastic quality, quick turnaround for your organisation. We kindly request at least 5 days' notice for small print jobs and 10 days for larger ones. This helps us manage workloads and deliver the best service possible.

Here’s what we can print:

  • A5 flyers, A4 & A3 posters
  • Information leaflets
  • Certificates (on card)

Web Design and Hosting

We create websites that are welcoming, easy to navigate, and professional, tailored to your needs. Our designs are responsive across all devices and align with your existing branding.

We’ll work with your team to develop a design concept, covering layout, colors, and fonts. After approval, we’ll integrate the Content Management System (CMS) and offer a two-hour training session.

Once the content is added, we’ll move the site to the main domain upon your approval.

Payment Schedule:

  1. 40% upon proposal acceptance
  2. 60% upon completion with CMS integrated
  3. Annual Maintenance (Optional): 30% of total cost
