Volunteer Driver – Community Car Scheme

Drivers are needed to help people in Borehamwood, Shenley and Potters Bar who are unable to use public transport, attend health appointments, and reduce social isolation.


Shopper Service Support Bus Buddies

We are looking for friendly, capable people to assist some of our more frail clients on our weekly shopper bus services.

Hub Helper

We are a small friendly team of staff and volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds.  The role would be ideal for someone looking to develop experience in Customer service or receptionist capacity. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Bid Writer/Coordinator

This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; develop their office-based and management experience, or just simply – “give something back to their community”. The role is for you if you are looking for flexibility and autonomy.


Activity and Events Volunteer

Assist with planning, organising and running events. May involve some evening or weekend work.  Anyone who can commit time no matter how limited will be appreciated. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant will play a critical role in helping to further develop and establish the charitable organisation by supporting our Management team and/or the Chief Executive.


ICT/Admin Support Volunteer

Your main roles will be to complete everyday ICT/Admin created within the office as well as maintaining the Communities 1st website. Your post will also include transferring current data onto new software packages and helping us to update our current systems. You will also be on hand to aid the rest of the team with any IT problems they might have.


Coffee Morning Helper

Like to Drink Coffee, Tea and Chat - we are looking for volunteers with exceptional skills in drinking coffee and being friendly. With these skills, you can help us ensure a bright, positive future for older people. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Leaflet and Poster Distributor

Communities 1st are looking for Volunteer leaflet and Poster distributors to supply locally identified shops, businesses and not-for-profit organisations with leaflets and posters that promote activities and events available for local residents. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Corporate Business Sponsorship Volunteer

We are looking for a Corporate Business Sponsorship Volunteer to make a significant contribution to the team and the work of the charity through developing new initiatives and growing our sponsor and business partner relationships.


Social Media and Communications Volunteer

Communities 1st are looking for Social Media and Communications Volunteers, who loves to face work challenges; to join our Communications team to gain practical experience working in a Social Media related role. You'll be able show real life experiences of creating and managing communications campaigns.

Digital Champion

A 'Digital Champion' is someone who supports family, friends, colleagues, customers or people in their community to enjoy all the benefits that Basic Online Skills can bring.   You don't need to be an IT whizz to become a Digital Champion within your community, you just need a bit of spare time and enthusiasm to support others to overcome personal barriers to experiencing the benefits of the internet and digital technology.


Receptionist

As a Volunteer Receptionist and Administrator, you will provide a welcome presence for people coming to our organisation to access our support and services.


Volunteer Centre Broker

We’re looking to grow our team at the Volunteer Centre and increase the number of people volunteering in the district.  Our Volunteers are the first point of contact for people accessing the centre and need to be reliable, friendly and enjoy helping people.  The roles are varied and provide volunteers with a wide range of skills and experience in a busy office of a thriving local charity.


Volunteer Speaker

As a Volunteer Speaker you will represent the Communities 1st at events and meetings. You will be confident in speaking about the cause and the work of the charity and you will develop relationships with key supporters and individuals as part of the process. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Telephone Befriender

Our telephone Befrienders phone older people with long-term health conditions and their carers. They call on a regular basis to offer a friendly chat and a listening ear.


Volunteer Interviewer

The role of Volunteer Interviewer would suit someone who is confident and outgoing with excellent communication skills.  You will interview members of the public on a one to one basis and discuss various volunteering opportunities with them that are available. You will also need to be able to assist in the completion of some application forms on some occasions.


Note Taker

Communities 1st are looking for a Volunteer Note Taker to attend about 10 meetings a year to take notes throughout the meeting.  This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; develop their office based and management experience, or just simply 'give something back to their community. CURRENTLY ON HOLD 


Website Volunteer

As our Website Admin Volunteer, your main roles will be to collaborate with web developers to create and operate internal and external websites, or to manage projects, such as e-marketing campaigns. 

Other duties may include ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date, developing a website with links to others and promoting and advertising events and activities.


Mentors

Communities 1st are searching for Mentors for our supported volunteers. The project aims to enable adults that have additional needs to volunteer, we achieve this by providing our supported volunteers with a volunteer mentor, offer training to both the volunteer and the mentors and then provide a safe environment within an organisation that can offer this type of role to our volunteers. CURRENTLY ON HOLD
