Despite vaccination centres going through a quiet spell, there are still plenty of volunteering opportunities you can get involved in with us!
We are now welcoming international nurses to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. We are looking for friendly volunteers around Harlow who would like to become nurse buddies, become friends with the nurses, meet up with them and helping them get to know the local area.
We are also looking for volunteers to help at Lister and Princess Alexandra hospitals. You will be assisting patient discharge using a tablet. This role can be carried out face to face or over the phone from the hospital discharge office.
You can sign up or find out more about all our volunteering roles here.
Thank you for your ongoing and vital support to our community!
Best wishes,
Stephen Craker
Chief Executive
UPDATE FOR VACCINATION/HOSPITAL VOLUNTEERS
- The volunteer role description for Bishop Stortford hospital is available here.
- If you are volunteering at MedMart Pharmacy please be aware that Tesco Borehamwood are no longer allowing parking there, however there are now spaces at Imperial Place. Please mention at the Gate House that you are a volunteer and you will be guided to a parking space.
-
If you have an admin role, you will need to watch this YouTube training video before you can attend your shift.
-
The vaccine administration and patient assistant roles will require a DBS check. Volunteers will need to show three documents from the government list. DBS usually take us around 48 hours to process, however there may be a short delay due to increased numbers. If you already have a DBS, please email the certificate to podadmin@communities1st.org.uk.
-
If you have already booked a shift in an administrative or patient assistant role, we will send you a zoom link to participate in the necessary training.
- New ID badges are currently being printed and can be collected from our office or posted to you. If you require a new badge, please email podadmin@communities1st.org.uk.

Volunteer Survey
We are asking volunteers to please complete this survey, that will help inform a piece of work Nottingham Trent and Sheffield Hallam are doing about our organisation.
Please take five minutes to complete the short survey here
