Full Description:
All clients are driven to their required destination by one of our volunteers' drivers in the drivers own cars.
We transport clients to hospitals, medical appointments and on social visits.
All jobs are booked through the duty officer phone which is manned everyday of the year.
We only transport clients that are registered with the scheme.
In most circumstances clients are allowed only 2 jobs per month.
Clients are not charged, they are asked to make a donation to the scheme.
Drivers are entitled to claim expenses at 45p per mile for fuel.
It is the volunteer drivers responsibility to inform their insurers they are driving for the scheme.
All drivers must provide details of the vehicle they are driving for the scheme, a copy of their driving license and complete our volunteer driver declaration form.
The process is that the driver collects the client from their home at a prearranged time. The client is then driven to their appointment/destination. After the appointment is completed the client is driven home.
In many cases the driver will need to help the client get their appointment in the hospital and arrange a process where the client can advise the driver they are ready to go home.
