The annual St Albans Christmas Cracker Event is returning this winter on the 22 November 2026.

Communities 1st will be taking part in the festivities and supporting the Community Safe Zone and we are looking for volunteers to take part.

The Community Safe Zone allows participants to escape the crowds and sit down in a quiet space. It is also a safe space that allows people to find out lots of information about support on the day as well as other services and helpful information.

Full Description:
As a volunteer supporting Communities 1st at the St Albans Christmas Cracker Event you can take part in any of the following opportunities:

Volunteer Way Finder - Help participants navigate around the event to make sure they have the chance to take part in all of the exciting events. You will hand out maps and help to guide people in the right direction.

Community Safe Zone helper - Stick around the Community Safe Zone and offer support to people looking for a quiet break from all the excitement going on around them. Help to make people aware of the Safe Zone and direct them to us.

Stage and access support - Support participants by signposting people to the stage for performances and helping guide people to the accessible viewing locations at the front of the stage.

General event support - Volunteers will be spread out around the event supporting people to access the tall food vendors, ensuring all vendors are accessible to everyone, handing out maps and information as well as helping answer questions.

The event will run from 12pm to 6pm with different shifts available throughout the day, so if you have an hour to spare or the whole day, please get in touch so we can book you in.

An online induction will be available before the event takes place to bring everyone up to date with everything you need to know to support you on the day.
