St Albans Mencap
St Albans Mencap is an independent local charity that has been supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, together with their families and carers, for over 75 years.
Our purpose is to enable people with learning disabilities to live full, active and independent lives by providing high-quality, person-centred services that promote inclusion, choice, confidence and wellbeing.
We provide services for children and young people aged 5–19 through our SNAP (Special Needs Activities and Play) programme, offering Saturday clubs, school holiday playschemes and other opportunities for social interaction, learning and respite for families. We also provide services for adults aged 19+ through our Trinity Community Project, delivering day opportunities, community activities, skills development, wellbeing programmes and one-to-one community support. Activities include arts and crafts, cookery, exercise, dance, quizzes, social groups, community outings and practical life skills. Referrals are welcomed from individuals, families, carers and professionals.
