What is Day Trippers?
Day Trippers is a programme of day-outings run by Communities 1st, aimed primarily at elderly residents and those who struggle to get out by themselves.
You will be collected from your address around 9.00 - 10.00 am, and dropped home around 1.30 - 2.00 pm
Where do Day Trippers go?
Our Day Trippers outings run for the Hertsmere and Welwyn Hatfield areas. They have visited local attractions such as Hatfield House and Gardens, The Aquadrome in Rickmansworth, the King and Tinker pub in Enfield, and Hare Krishna Temple in Watford.
We also regularly visit garden centres, such as Springtime Nurseries in Enfield and Aylett Nurseries in St Albans, and shopping centres.
Is there a charge?
Day Tripper outings are charged at £6 per return journey, including a £2 non-refundable deposit. This price excludes refreshments and entrance fees.
Payment will be required upfront.

Luton Hoo Walled Garden

The Walled Garden, situated on Luton Hoo Estate, was designed by Capability Brown in the late 1760s for John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute. Restoration work began in 2001 and the site now comprises a five-acre garden surrounded by the original 18th century octagonal wall and a range of glass houses. The Woodland Café is just a short walk through the garden gate.
