Have you ever fancied yourself producing and presenting your own news and features programme?
If you can spare a day a month, and are willing to learn how, we'd love to meet you!

Our producers (there are 5) put together a weekly 2 hour programme of local news, interviews, radio listings and other items of interest, with the help of teams of readers. Teams of copiers and distributors then take over and send them out to our partially sighted and blind listeners.

Our aim is to enable them to feel more connected with the local community, which we have been doing now for 50 years, entirely relying on volunteers!

The programmes are available to listen to on our website, if you'd like to get an idea. If you'd like to learn more please do get in touch!

Full Description:
We have four producers (one for each week in each month) plus a quarterly magazine programme producer. We are seeking an additional producer to provide backup or to job-share with existing producers.

The task is to follow a programme template creatively, drawing on an established team of readers and guests to record, create and deliver an audio programme that is of value to our listeners. We use Audacity software for recording and editing.
What we need is someone who has either relevant experience, a creative instinct, a love of radio and a commitment to do something valuable for those with visual impairment.

All the necessary on-the-job training will be available. Being available on Thursdays is essential as this is the key production day.
