Practical Considerations: There is a requirement for some lifting/carrying of presentation equipment and other sundry items, so a good level of fitness and mobility is required. Most events require standing for the duration

Full Description:
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic learning officer to develop and deliver heritage related events within local schools (mostly primary)
You will need:
• a passion for engaging with young people with their local heritage
• have strong communication skills
• enthusiasm to liaise with schools and teachers to develop and run programmes of talks, activities and workshops in response to requests from schools or to promote museum exhibitions
As this role will involve working with children and vulnerable adults, there will be a minimum of two volunteers required for every event. Liaison with other volunteer members will be required when scheduling events

You will need to be:
• highly organised and keen to develop ways to engage with the community
• passionate about local heritage
• able to communicate effectively
OTHER USEFUL SKILLS
• Ideal for a retired teacher
• Experience of working with disadvantaged groups
• An understanding of youth work/social work, community engagement or a similar field
• An understanding of current terminology with reference to minority/protected characteristics groups
