Volunteering Opportunity: Compassionate Neighbour Volunteer with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

Before you can register your interest for this opportunity you must be registered as a volunteer.

Compassionate Neighbours provide social and emotional support and companionship to people who are experiencing loneliness or social isolation as a result of living with a life-limiting illness or bereavement.

After training, Compassionate Neighbours are matched with people based on location, interests and character, with the aim of creating genuine, mutually beneficial friendships.

We particularly need volunteers in:-

• Watford (Central & North Watford)
• Hertsmere (Potters Bar & Bushey)
• Three Rivers (South Oxhey, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood)
• St Albans (Central St Albans & Harpenden)
• Dacorum (Hemel & Tring)

Opportunity Type: Long-term Commitment

District: Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans, Three Rivers, Watford

Start Date: 12/07/2023
End Date: 31/10/2024

Location: From home

Time of day: Weekday Mornings, Weekday Afternoons, Weekday Evenings, Weekend Full Days, Weekend Half Days

Practical Considerations: We match you with someone local to you, so you should be able to get to them by walking or public transport.

As the role takes place in people's homes we can't guarantee how accessible they will be to wheelchair users or people with restricted mobility, so we would have to discuss that with you.

Requirements: Will require a criminal record check (DBS)

• visiting regularly for a chat, offering friendship and a listening ear
• attending one of our Community Hubs/Compassionate Cafés
• helping them stay connected to the community
• visiting local places (such as a café, garden centre or shops)
• sharing an activity or hobby
