Redbourn Community Group is hoping to recruit a few more people to help in the office on a rota basis. The location is Redbourn Village Hall, the hours would be 10-1 on a weekday and ideally we would like the volunteer to commit to once a week or once a fortnight but we are also hoping to build up a bigger team in order to cover for holidays or illness. This role could work well for someone who is either taking a career break and looking to maintain their communication and IT skills, or looking at next steps and wishing to add to their CV. There will be training on our procedures and the database system.
This involves providing office and administrative support for the smooth running of RCG’s services. Duties include taking telephone calls and talking to clients seeking information or transport services, work as part of an administrative team, to provide a high standard of customer care to all clients, potential clients, volunteers and trustees.

Full Description:
Key responsibilities:
• Keep accurate up to date records on Charity log, the
specialist database software system that manages
personal information.
• Deal with email enquiries, diary entries, arranging
appointments, including group outings, answering
incoming calls, accepting and recording donations,
taking messages and referrals.
• Liaise with clients to understand requirements and
organise services including travel by contacting
volunteers, providing them with full information to fulfil
any requests and encouraging client and volunteer
feedback.
• Liaise with Office Manager and/or trustees to resolve
issues and enquiries, also access information such as
policies and guidelines.
• Contribute to the development of core RCG processes,
comply with them and offer ideas and feedback for
improvement.
• Develop a working knowledge of safeguarding, be able
to seek support and direct concerns to the appropriate
person where necessary.
• Act in a responsible and courteous manner at all times
when undertaking duties for RCG.
Specific skills:
• Excellent IT skills and an ability to learn a specialised
database.
• Good communication skills, ability to engage with clients
and volunteers.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, support others in
their role and with the Office Manager to provide good
service for clients.
• Willingness to work remotely and/or in RCG Office.
• Ability to follow guidelines in a timely manner.
• Complete safeguarding training level 1 equivalent within
12 months of joining RCG and at regular intervals
thereafter.
Capabilities
• Conscientious and accurate in record keeping and
completion of electronic documentation.
• Proactive and able to deal with the unexpected in a
calm, professional manner e.g. when an urgent or
unusual issue arises.
• Understanding of RCG and its role in the community.
• Ability to commit to a rota, for example 10-1 pm weekly or
biweekly.
