HAWA Multicultural Services CIC (HAWA) is a dynamic organisation with a rich history of serving ethnically diverse communities in St Albans. Established in 2008 as the Hertfordshire Asian Women's Association, HAWA was founded with a singular mission: to empower women from diverse backgrounds. Over the years, we have evolved and expanded our services to encompass both men and women, prompting a name change to HAWA Multicultural Services CIC to better reflect our comprehensive approach.Opportunity Type: Long-term Commitment

• A DBS check may be required depending on the nature of the sessions.
Requirements: Will require a criminal record check (DBS)

Full Description:
To support women in the community with basic reading and writing skills, helping to build their confidence and independence through literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver one-to-one or small group literacy sessions tailored to learners’ needs.
• Support learners with basic reading, writing, and
comprehension.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging learning
environment.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to learners.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to teaching.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and simply.
• Experience in teaching or tutoring is desirable but not essential.
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
