Volunteering Opportunity: Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub Trustee Board member with Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub

Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub (WCCH) is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Board of Trustees to help shape the next stage of our development with fresh thinking and experience.

WCCH is a local charity at the heart of Wheathampstead. Our activities include:

• the Chapel Gym – our thriving community gym;
• the Chapel Halls – welcoming spaces for community groups, classes, events and private hire;
• the Community Kitchen – bringing people together over freshly prepared meals and helping reduce loneliness and social isolation

Our community facilities and services welcome people of all faiths and none, and people of all ages and backgrounds.

Time of day: Casual or Intermittent

Practical Considerations: Trustees attend bi-monthly Board meetings on a weekday evening, read papers beforehand and contribute to decisions about the charity’s strategy, finances, governance and future development through emails and at meetings.
Responsibilities are shared across the Board according to people’s skills, interests and available time. Trustees are volunteers and are not expected to run the charity single-handedly. The time commitment fluctuates, but would usually be about 4-6 hours per week.

Requirements: Will require a criminal record check (DBS), Own vehicle or access to a vehicle

Full Description:
You do not need previous experience as a Trustee. What matters most is good judgement, an interest in the Wheathampstead community, the ability to work collaboratively and a willingness to contribute your skills, experience and ideas. Experience in any of the following could be particularly useful:

• management;
• business, finance or strategy;
• people management or HR;
• charities or community organisations;
• health, fitness or wellbeing;
• property or facilities;
• fundraising;
• marketing and communications;
• safeguarding or risk management; or
• partnership and community working.
