Prevent is part of the UK Government counter terrorism strategy known as CONTEST that aims to support those who are susceptible to radicalisation. Its aim is to stop individuals from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The Prevent Duty applies to statutory partners such as education, the NHS and local authorities, and it is a safeguarding mechanism.
