Home-Start Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere
Our objective is to safeguard, protect and preserve the good physical and mental health of children and their parents across Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere districts. By offering vulnerable and marginalised parents the support and guidance they need when their children are young, we aim to prevent crisis and ensure their children have the best possible start in life. Our core service is to recruit and train local parent volunteers to
offer weekly practical and emotional support in the family home over a period of 6 months to help parents to build the confidence and skills to meet their young children’s needs. Our commitment to accessible peer support over an extended period enables us
to engage and build trust with families that other services struggle to reach. We have responded to rising isolation and poor mental health by offering expert counselling alongside weekly, family groups offering a range of child-focused activities and creating
our peer to peer mentoring programme for previously supported families empowering them to volunteer as buddies and extend our cycle of support for families in need and crisis.
