What is Employer Supported Volunteering?
Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) is when employers offer their staff paid time off to volunteer in the local community.
ESV is becoming increasingly popular as employers recognise the potential to develop both their business and staff, while also supporting and improving their community. If you'd like to explore ESV, we can help with:
- Knowledge of local organisations and their needs
- Details of voluntary opportunities for individuals and teams
- A brokerage service matching interests, skills and availability to voluntary tasks
- Co-ordination of the volunteering day
- Photographs and a write-up of the day that can be used on your website
Choose your ESV programme
We have four great programmes to suit whatever level of involvement you're looking for. These are designed to deliver measurable benefits to the local community, meaning action is taken on the most important issues and in communities with the greatest needs.
Skill Share
Could your staff provide professional support to a local charity?
Charities often face financial challenges that restrict them from investing the time and money they would like to in a particular area. However, you could choose to connect your skilled employees with a local charity to volunteer their expertise and knowledge in a meaningful way.
Through this Skill Share programme, your team will have the opportunity to share their talents (e.g. through mentorship, hands-on support or strategic guidance) during a designated project period to help the charity achieve specific goals. This not only benefits the organisation in need but also fosters professional development, team engagement, and a stronger sense of community involvement among your employees.
Give and Gain
Would your team benefit from a bonding activity?
Group volunteering is a great way to build stronger alliances within your organisation while using your skills to do something for your community. In the past, we supported groups to take part in:
- Community litter picks
- Interview preparation events at local colleges
- Local area refreshes
Whatever your team's preference, we can help you find an opportunity that best suits your needs.
Sustain
Are you seeking a longer-lasting and more meaningful relationship with your customers?
Your employees can leverage their professional expertise to provide value to those customers. This could involve offering specialist advice, personalised recommendation or tailored solutions that go beyond basic transactions. By positioning your team as knowledgeable and trustworthy experts, you not only enhance customer satisfaction but also foster long-term, sustainable loyalty and engagement with your brand.
Pre-Retirees
This program is particularly well-suited for employees at pre-retirement stage in the process of scaling back their workload and gradually reducing hours. By providing a structured transition, it allows employees to adjust to a new work-life balance while ensuring that their valuable knowledge and experiences are effectively passed on to colleagues. It can also serve as an opportunity for mentoring, succession planning and skill transfer within your organisation.
Ultimately, this approach helps both the employee and the company navigate the retirement process smoothly, fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture.
