Training Tuesday

We are surrounded by numbers and are constantly processing them in our brains.  Numbers and calculations help us with various activities and tasks we do in our everyday lives like shopping, cooking, playing football or even budgeting and sewing.

April is Mathematics and Statistics Awareness month.  As part of increasing interest and upskilling adults in numeracy, we are delivering courses funded by the national project Multiply. Shopping on a Budget will help you shop better, smarter, and lighter on the pocket. Our Make Do and Mend course will help you save your much loved clothes, save money on expensive repairs and protect the environment. We have dates for April!

Our endeavor to hit the 1000 target on creating Dementia Friends in the community continues. Do sign up on the one-hour Dementia Friends Information session, support the cause, and learn to support those living with Dementia.

This year International Microvolunteering Day is being held on 15th April. The day is meant to showcase the power of coming together with little resources and energy but make big differences to yourself and communities. Sign up to our Anyone Can Volunteer sessions and learn how you can take your first steps towards your volunteering journey.

We hope to see you at some of these sessions online or in person. Continue to stay informed! As always, we look forward to hearing your views on our training; send us an Email.

Continue to stay informed!

Make Do and Mend

Garment repair can be painful and expensive. We have so many clothes in our cupboards that occupy space and are loved that we don’t have the heart to throw them away. Mending your clothes and upcycling them not only helps save money but also helps reduce long term impacts on the environment.
In this session, participants will learn simple hand sewing techniques such as button sewing, hemming and altering at waist, whilst improving their numeracy skills and save money.

No sewing skills are needed. Just bring a garment that needs a simple hand repair and you will get the opportunity to begin working on it. If they wish, participants may bring their own sewing supplies.
This course is funded by Multiply a nation wide project to help adults improve their numeracy skills.  Please note this is an in-person course.
