Youth Talk need a volunteer co-ordinator to help us develop and lead our volunteering programme. You will help us to co-ordinate, recruit and manage different volunteer roles. Importantly you will also help look after our volunteers so that they feel valued and able to share their time meaningfully, develop or learn new skills and ultimately help Youth Talk to achieve more.

This is the ideal opportunity for someone who is on a career break, in early retirement or simply looking for something fulfilling to do with their spare time. This role requires approximately 5 – 7 hours a week and the commitment to volunteer for a year.

Practical Considerations: Youth Talk is on the lower ground floor and is not step free, there is not a lift, nor do we have car parking. This role is primarily home based.

Full Description:
The demand for our local counselling service has grown exponentially and we need our community to support us. We are looking for a skilled volunteer who can help us develop a supporter-led volunteer model to facilitate the charity’s growth. You will help support and train our volunteers to ensure they each become Youth Talk champions whilst having a fantastic experience volunteering with Youth Talk.

This is a really important role for us as it helps us to reach new people, inspire new fundraising activity, and thank our supporters for the work they are doing in aid of our local young people.

This role requires approximately 5 – 7 hours a week and the commitment to volunteer for a year. We are happy for the right candidate to work flexibly although are ideally looking for someone who would like to help one day a week.

In this role you will help recruit volunteers to support various areas of the charity’s work, induct and support them when in post.

We are ideally looking for someone experienced in people management and / or working with volunteers. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator (bother written and verbal) with an ability to work with their own initiative and also as part of a team.

Main responsibilities

• Help to create new volunteer roles as requested by the Corporate and Community fundraiser to support the activities of the charity
• Promote new roles and help to recruit volunteers
• Respond to postal, phone and email communications from volunteers using both standard and bespoke correspondence
• Create a volunteer induction process and induct volunteers and support when in post
• Undertake research as requested by the Corporate and Community Fundraiser, for example, looking at volunteer roles and opportunities other charities successfully manage
• Participate in fortnightly meetings with the Corporate and Community Fundraiser, reporting and liaising on ongoing projects.
• Willingness to support occasional events that may fall outside of normal working hours, for example, attend a fundraising event alongside other volunteers.
