Each week, our team of volunteers creates an audio programme designed for those in our City & District whose visual impairment puts them at risk of being excluded from what’s happening around their local community. Each programme includes local news (courtesy of the Herts Advertiser) and articles (courtesy of Hertfordshire Life magazine), as well as many other items, such as interviews, audiobook reviews, advance information on events and much more. Established in 1974, we were more recently presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (2019), the Mayor’s Special Recognition Award (2019) and the Lord Lieutenant’s ‘Heroes of Hertfordshire’ recognition (2020) for our work. SADTN is a registered charity

Full Description:
We are always keen to add new voices to our team of readers who record news stories. The average requirement is for a short time on a Thursday once every two or three months. We are ALWAYS short of male voices! Each applicant will be asked to record a sample piece on smart phone or computer (unless you have your own recording studio at home!) Post-Covid, some teams have returned to the recording studio and work as a team, but many continue to record at home and simply liaise with the producers by email.
