We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to cover our St Albans Good Neighbour helpline. Our helpline volunteers (Duty Officers) are at the heart of organising the services we provide and of course are the friendly voice that people first hear when they contact our Scheme.
The services we provide are transport, befriending, shopping and practical help to many elderly clients.
What we need from you
Is the desire to make the difference to our clients' day and get them the help they need.
Is for you to be bright, helpful on the phone,
To continue to make our charity loved and respected.
Is your enthusiasm and time.
Are you someone
Who is great at communicating, will love talking to our clients and volunteers
Who likes helping people.
Who is well organised, with an eye for detail,
Enjoys getting things done
Do you have
A spare day each month, so you would be able to join our team of Duty Officers.
Be able to take calls in the comfort of your own home
A phone and a computer.
What do you need to know
We will show how everything works and will provide training and support at all times.
Our training and support will give you the confidence to cover the role.
Your fellow volunteers always want to help
So what do you get out of it,
A real sense of achievement,
A feeling of pride
Most importantly, helping others makes us all feel good about ourselves. That’s a special feeling!
