We’re looking for volunteers to help run our Compassionate Cafés and Hubs — safe, relaxed spaces where people can connect, share, and feel supported.Opportunity Type: Long-term Commitment
District: Hertsmere, Three Rivers

End Date: 30/12/2026
Location: From your office
Time of day: Weekday Mornings, Weekday Afternoons
Practical Considerations: You will be asked to attend a one day training course that will support you in the role
This is a flexible role and we hope you will be able to offer a minimum of 3 hours per month.
Dependent on the location of the group, there may or may not be wheelchair access - we can discuss with you.
Suitable for: 18 – 25 year olds, Aged 26 and over, University students, Older People, People with a visual impairment, People with restricted mobility, Rehabilitation friendly
Suitable for volunteers interested in: Children, Families & Family Support, End of Life, Bereavement & Hospices, Health and Wellbeing, Isolation & Loneliness, Mental Health

What you’ll be doing:
Welcoming guests with a smile and a cuppa
Setting up the café space and keeping things cosy
Chatting with visitors and offering a listening ear
Helping create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for everyone

No experience needed — just a friendly nature, reliability, and a willingness to help others feel at ease. We’ll give you all the support and training you need.
