Research Cafe: Who is Research for and What Does Our Community Want it to Look Like?

Join us for our first research café where we will discuss the role of communities in research, challenges with local and national research and opportunities for a strengthened community voice, co-production and empowerment.

In this café we will be joined by Dr Nic Aaron, a research fellow from Birbeck University of London, who studies institutional harm in universities, healthcare and prisons. Dr Aaron will share some of the insight gained from a career in research, especially on the theme of co-production with communities.

We also want to know what Communities 1st could do to support your communities to be empowered and connected to research – your voice is incredibly important to us!

You don’t need to have a background in research, just an interest in equality and the local community!
