Broxbourne Big Local

Broxbourne Big Local was founded by the Wormley and Turnford Big Local project.
• To hold the 999 year lease granted by Broxbourne Council for the Wormley Community Centre
• To secure the future of the Community Centre and a range of community activities in around Wormley and Turnford as Wormley and Turnford Big Local’s funding through the Local Trust initiative is fully spent
• To encourage new initiatives and projects aimed at meeting the needs of local people in Wormley and Turnford and elsewhere in Broxbourne

Now a registered charity, we are focused on providing free or low cost activities that will develop the capacity and skills of socially and economically disadvantaged people of all ages in the Borough of Broxbourne. Activities currently mainly serve the communities of Wormley and Turnford with most being situated at our community centre in Wormley, but we do not place any restrictions on who can join our activities and are welcoming to and inclusive of all.

We provide spaces for hire alongside the numerous groups and clubs operating from our centre including mother and baby groups, Big Local Breakfast Club and the Brunch & Board Games that offer warm spaces and free, nourishing food to combat the cost of living crisis, walking groups, a growing group at our allotments, regular social activities for the whole community including a Christmas party, Halloween event, talent nights and currently operate a youth club offering music studio facilities where they can express themselves in a positive way. We have previously offered a HAF club ourselves and are currently working in partnership with other HAF providers to ensure there is a local offer for our community by providing the venue.

The Community Centre is a trusted, safe space for our local community, run by local people with the community at the heart of all they do.
