Health & Independent Living Support

Health & Independent Living Support (HILS) is a charitable social enterprise set up in 2007 with the help of Hertfordshire County Council and North Hertfordshire District Council, to deliver community meals on wheels to Hertfordshire residents across the county. In 2024-24, we provided 2.1 million caring interventions to over 18,000 people - interventions that helped keep them safe in their homes at an exceptionally challenging time. Providing evidence, impactful support in a caring and professional way is central to how we work and what we do. Our primary service is meals on wheels, which provides daily hot meals to older and vulnerable people in Hertfordshire. We also provide several free services to people who need extra help, such as Nutrition and Wellbeing checks, Active Ageing, and dementia support.
