Mama Cacao Collective CIC

Mama Cacao is a chocolate business and Community Interest Company - nonprofit. I’m Juliet Davey, a bean-to-bar chocolate-maker, cacao farmer, and chocolate educator with a background in sustainability and environmental education. After many years in Costa Rica, I’ve returned to Hertfordshire to establish a UK base for my work and my social enterprise, Mama Cacao Collective CIC.

We support and empower women cacao farmers—particularly marginalised indigenous women in Costa Rica—through training in chocolate-making, sustainable agriculture, and business development. In the UK, we deliver interactive, curriculum-linked workshops and talks in schools, universities, and community settings, connecting people—especially young audiences—to where their food comes from, the women who grow it, and the importance of ethical, climate-smart supply chains.

Our work takes place both on the ground in Costa Rica, during harvest and fermentation, and through skills training, and across Hertfordshire and the UK through educational programmes, tastings, and community partnerships.
