Friends of Falconer School
Falconer School is a maintained school catering for secondary age boys with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health needs) from across Hertfordshire and who cannot be accommodated in main stream schools. It is a term used in education to describe children and young people experiencing significant challenges in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions. Sometimes these behaviours are covering for unmet medical needs, and/or are manifesting as anxiety, depression, dis-regulation or withdrawn behaviours.
OUR VISION AND PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
The Friends of Falconer School is a newly formed charity building a vision that will support the raising of funds that are desperately needed to develop a more holistic school community that empowers our students and enriches their education. This will create a more equitable and inclusive school; provide the boys with a variety of opportunities to develop their skills and interests and demonstrate our school values of ‘kindness, respect, acceptance, readiness to learn and being involved.’ Our core themes are:
Empowerment and Community –
Empowering our whole school community to create lasting, positive change that make a difference to the education, interests and lives of our students.
Inclusivity and Empathy –
Engaging with all members of the school community to inspire compassion, kindness and empathy by providing enrichment opportunities and first-hand experiences that help to foster ambition and hope for their individual futures.
Equity and Opportunity -
Taking shared ownership of actions and deeds that ensure opportunities are provided that benefit the education and life chances of all boys at the school, who might otherwise be excluded or marginalised by society.
Our charity work will fall under three main headings:
• A Safe Space: Improving the internal and external learning environment to provide safe spaces, appropriate resources and demonstrate how we care for the world around us.
• Outreach: Support parents, families, staff and others to build a community that consists of strong, nurturing relationships and positive role models for the students.
• Ethical Organisations: Liaise with ethical and appropriate organisations to build a network of donors and a support system that is always for the benefit of the school and provides positive opportunities for the boys in our care.
