We are seeking friendly, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to run the front of house operation at the museum. You will need to be polite and have an ability to engage with people of all ages and backgrounds. You will be responsible for guiding our visitors around our facility, answering queries in person or on the telephone, managing the sale of souvenirs and publications, recording the cash or card payments in a simple ledger. Punctual and reliable people of all ages are invited to join our friendly team.

Practical Considerations: The museum is located on the second floor (with lift access) but an ability to walk up stairs would be advised in the event the lift is unavailable.

Full Description:
We are seeking friendly and enthusiastic front of house team members to welcome visitors to the museum

We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 12:00-18:00 and Saturday 10:00-15:00

Shifts are typically around 3 hours in duration, and you are invited to volunteer for as many shifts that suit you. We can be flexible but would prefer a regular commitment for however many hours suit you.

Other tasks will include:
• answer enquiries at the front desk and on the telephone.
• promote membership to the Friends of Elstree & Boreham Wood Museum.
• supervise visitors where needed.
• record the sale of museum souvenirs and memorabilia accounting for cash or card payments.

You will need:
• to be polite, friendly and have an engaging manner with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• to have strong, confident communication skills.
• an interest in local heritage (no specific knowledge is required although it is helpful).
• to be punctual and reliable and enjoy working as a team.
