Volunteering Opportunity: Community Support Service Volunteer with Hertfordshire Mind Network

We are looking for volunteers who will provide one-to-one support to clients who are leaving our Community Support Service, through our new six-week Step Down service.

You will support people with complex mental health needs in the community; help them to engage with other services and encourage them to access social and recreational activities. You will be there to help improve the wellbeing of an individual by using a holistic approach – offering a listening ear for people to talk about their thoughts and feelings and improving the lives of others by supporting them to live independently in their community.

Opportunity Type: Long-term Commitment

Location: Indoor

Time of day: Weekday Mornings, Weekday Afternoons, Weekday Evenings

Practical Considerations: A minimum of 1 hour per week will be required for this role.

Requirements: Will require a criminal record check (DBS)

Suitable for: 18 – 25 year olds, Aged 26 and over, University students, Older People

The main tasks for this role are as follows:

Liaise with the team

Act as an advocate for your client

Attending initial assessments with CSS staff

Provide emotional support

Signpost to other organisations

Access groups in the community

Encourage and reassure the client

Attend meetings and appointments (occasional transport
support)
