Full Description:
The Friday Night Project is located at the Hertswood Academy in Borehamwood. It provides young people with a safe space to hang out, play sports and engage in activities that raise aspirations. We have on average 130 young people attending the project.
The project provides young people with a range of sports activities to get involved with including football, rugby, basketball and kick boxing and they are run by trained and professional coaches.
They are also some young people who hang out while others are actively engaged in the sport activities. We need volunteers to support those young people by engaging them with other activities, chatting or just ensuring that they are safe in the premises. Those activities and engagement are led by professionals.

We are looking for volunteers that can support us by:
• Engaging young people in activities
• Chatting with young people in group or individually
• Checking that the young people are safe within the premises
• Setting up and tidy up

By volunteering at the Friday Night Project, you will be supporting young people to be engaged and motivated, able to express their feelings, giving some advice and support.
As an adult not related to the young people, they will appreciate being listened to and be involved in conversation and activities.
The project support young people to stay away from hanging in the street and to have meaningful activities and support.

As a volunteer, you will be supported by a range of professionals, including Leecliffe Big Local's Volunteer Coordinator, and other organisations who leads the weekly sessions.
