Fantastic Friday Update

We hope you enjoyed celebrating the Royal Coronation of HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla, last weekend .

The occasion offered an amazing opportunity to promote, celebrate and get involved in Volunteering as part of the "The Big Help Out" campaign. We feel honoured to have been part of it.

Throughout May, Communities 1st is supporting Local and Community History Month. In the past few years, we have most likely spent more time at home than ever before, so why don't you take this opportunity to get out and about and investigate your surroundings? Whether it's a forest, a train station, a castle or a certain street in your town, history is all around us! If you are interested in finding out more about your community's past, you can find some useful tips here.

"National Children's Day" (NCDUK) is celebrated every year on May 14th and is all about the importance of a healthy childhood, and how we need to protect the rights and freedoms of children and young people. You can find ideas here for things to think / talk related to this Campaign.

"Dementia Action Week" (15th-21st of May) aims to promote awareness and the importance of a prompt diagnosis, that is also this year's theme. Through greater community awareness and more healthcare professionals working together, it is hoped we wil collectively improve people’s diagnosis experience and ensure they get a timely one. We periodically arrange dedicated trainings sessions on this topic, so keep an eye out for our next Dementia Friends Information Session.

Please note that while our Community Hub, at 5 Leeming Road, Borehamwood is still closed for repairs due to flooding, support is still available! We’re making every possible effort to ensure alternative provision is available for those who need to meet with us but in the meantime please do give us a call at 01727 649930 or write to us.

Stay safe, warm and have a lovely weekend!
