Fantastic Friday Update

This week's newsletter is packed with ideas on new events for kids and help and support for families.

In 2 weeks' time Communities 1st will be hosting a stand at the Fun in The Park events (12pm - 3pm). On Monday 21st August we will be in Potters Bar, on Tuesday 23rd in Borehamwood, and on Thursday 24th in Bushey. Do come to say hi to our friendly team and find out more about our services!

We are very happy to announce that we are very close to reopening our Community Hub, at 5 Leeming Road, Borehamwood following flood damage earlier this year.

In the meantime support is still available! Alternative provision is at hand for anyone who needs to meet with us but in the meantime please do give us a call at 01727 649930 or write to us. We can’t wait to open our doors to you again in the very near future!

Next week the newsletter will be on holiday and we will be back with you on the 25th!

Stay safe, have a lovely weekend and see you soon!

Cervical Screenings Survey

Cervical Screenings help to prevent cancer and the NHS routinely offers them to women and people with a cervix between the ages of 25-64. However, we know that 1 in 4 do not attend their Cervical Screening test.

A survey has been launched to find out what people’s experience of Cervical Screening has been and any reasons why people might not take up the invitation to be screened.

This research will help local NHS ensure that the Cervical Screening programme is having the greatest impact it can.

Let’s Give

Communities 1st has launched a new service for volunteers. You can create your own space on our website so that organisations can find out about you and reach out about their volunteering roles. You won’t need to display any personal contact information as we do all the brokerage, so we will put you in touch with the organisations that have reached out to you. It’s a great way to showcase your skills and experience to local community groups and can help match you with a role where you can make a real difference.

Alternatively, if you work for an organisation that needs volunteers, you will be able to search for volunteers with the skills and interests that match the roles you need to recruit.

For more information contact us by email or call 01727 649953.

Men That Meet

It is thought that 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem such as depression or anxiety, and social media can often play a part in making these feelings worse.

Communities 1st has helped to establish a new social group in Borehamwood where men can meet other men and connect over good conversation, games etc.

  • Tuesday 1.30 pm - 4 pm
  • Windsor Hall (WD6 4EE)

Communities1st will be holding a stall at these events! Come and say hi to our lovely staff!
