March will be upon us next week, but the last few days of February will still offer some opportunities for community awareness.
Eating Disorders Awareness Week (26 February - 3 March 2024) wants to shine a light on a health condition that we know doesn't always get the attention it deserves: ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder), a largely unknown and misunderstood eating disorder that can have serious consequences for health if left untreated. You can find out more about this disorder here.
"Rare Disease Day", a globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, is celebrated on Thursday 29th. The day focuses on work towards equity of social opportunity and access to healthcare, particularly to diagnosis and therapies for people living with rare diseases. You can find out more about this movement here.
Self Harm and Self Injury Awareness Day (SIAD) occurs on the 1st March every year. This is an international event that is recognised across the globe aiming to raise awareness and understanding around self-injury. If you or anyone you know are dealing with this kind of mental health problems which lead to self-harm, you can find help and support here.
On Monday come to see us at Our Health Matters - Support for Wellbeing Event in Aberford Community Centre in Borehamwood (1pm - 4pm). See below more information about it.
We wish you a lovely weekend!
