We have had a fantastic summer with lots of new volunteers joining the Let’s Give community but as we approach September, we are looking ahead at all the new opportunities we have available.

As we wind down the summer holidays and schools are back in full swing, you may find yourself looking for new challenges with new interests. If this is the case, please update your profile so that our many organisations can find you.

Assistant Manager Volunteer Centre

Mama Cacao are looking for a proactive, organised communicator with strong social media skills, a flair for writing creative content and an interest in ethical consumerism - particularly chocolate, sustainability and environmental issues, environmental education or women’s empowerment. There will be some creative freedom and you get to help shape a nonprofit in its infancy.

The RSPCA would like to recruit several additional trustees. The opportunities include taking the lead on fundraising, overseeing their clinic or shop, increasing their local outreach and education activities, enhancing their online presence and recognition and more.

St Albans Good Neighbourhood Watch is looking for a community-minded volunteer to fill the role of district coordinator to assist HertsWatch in Hatfield keep people safe and promote community spirit.

The role consists of:

• Representing your district at HertsWatch meetings (quarterly in the evening)
• Organising meetings with police and other agencies if appropriate
• Assisting at Safer Streets events when possible and encouraging other Neighbourhood Watch scheme coordinators to do likewise
• Working to recruit Ward/Street scheme coordinators where there are gaps
• Driving Neighbourhood Watch activity, i.e. stalls at fetes and other events, working with Police to launch new schemes and maintaining activity in existing schemes
• Organising meetings for Ward and Area Coordinators as required
• Attending the local council-led Joint Action Group or other local meetings as a representative of Neighbourhood Watch

Free Books Hatfield would love to hear from you!

There is an opportunity to join an independent book rehoming charity that aims to promote reading and prevent books from going to landfill by giving out free books. Volunteers help sort and categorise books, fill shelves, and answer any questions from our customers. Full training will be given by a senior volunteer or one of the trustees during the trial shift as well as in subsequent shifts after joining the team.

Hertsmere Mencap is looking for a volunteer to support their staff team with administrative tasks for up to 10 hours a week. It will include assisting in the recruitment process before each holiday club, excel work and more. This role will be home-based until October, then hybrid between home and office in Borehamwood. It will help them fulfil their mission to support people with learning disabilities to thrive.

Herts Vision Loss is looking for volunteers to help with running the charity’s informal working-age group which meets to chat, have fun, go on outings and trips and generally help alleviate social isolation.

Can you spare a couple of hours now and again to join the pool of minibus drivers at the Harpenden Trust? The role requires drivers to do mainly short trips around town to take their clients to social events and activities. The trust is committed to embracing diversity and promoting equality and inclusion. They will provide the appropriate training for all their volunteers.

Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care is looking for empathetic drivers to pick up patients from their homes across west Hertfordshire and bring them into their Hospice sites in St Albans and Watford.

This online session is for anyone looking to begin their volunteering journey.

In this awareness session, you will learn how abusers use technology to perpetrate abuse and the risks this poses to victims.

This session is beneficial for both members of the public and professionals working with victims. You will also find out what support is available and how to access it.

This information and training session focuses on sexual health and the range of issues related to it. It is designed for anyone who works with people living with sexual health issues, as well as service users in Hertfordshire, community and voluntary groups, corporate organisations, educational institutions, housing providers, local authorities, NHS trusts, youth services, and members of the public.

Are you someone who likes to motivate others? In this role you will be involved in assisting clients in face-to-face meetings supporting them to build confidence and set goals. You will help them job search or search for volunteering opportunities and more. It will include you managing a small caseload of people.

Whether you're a seasoned barista or looking to learn the art of creating the perfect cup of coffee, you can volunteer to help us run the coffee cart and make it a success. You'll have the opportunity to connect with new people, develop various skills and - if you're interested - mentor those who are also eager to learn but find it a bit harder than others.

Whether you're able to give a few hours or more a week, your time and energy will be making a meaningful difference. Every cup you serve will help fuel our programme that supports individuals who are working towards a better future.
