Making a Difference Volunteer Newsletter

This Saturday, Communities 1st will be attending the Herts Pride event, being held at Cassiobury Park in Watford. Herts Pride is a vibrant and inclusive celebration that unites people to make a meaningful impact in their community. Communities 1st will have a stall where we will be able to engage with attendees and share information about our volunteering opportunities and different services. 

If you would like to come along and support us at the event as a volunteer, it's not too late to sign up. Please get in touch by giving us a call or sending an email. If you are not available to volunteer on the day but you are able to attend the event, stop by our stall and say hello. We can't wait to see you there!

We are looking for keen gardeners to volunteer and support local residents with their gardening. If you are passionate about gardening and looking for more ways to spend time in the fresh air, why not sign up as a volunteer gardener? 

Every week, we receive enquiries from people in your local community who need help with the maintenance of their garden. If you would like to help people and give them the chance to spend time in and enjoy their gardens again, please get in touch. Contact Emily on 01727649980 or send us an email. 

With lots of our popular day trips being fully booked, we are looking for volunteer drivers to help assist the passengers to and from their exciting locations. 

If you are a confident driver and would like the opportunity to help people in your community get out and about, we would love to hear from you!

In this awareness session you will learn how abusers use technology to perpetrate abuse and the risks to victims.

Members of the public would benefit from this session as well as professionals working with victims. This session will also allow you to find out what support is available and how to access it.

This information training session focuses on sexual health and the various issues related to it. It is designed for those who work with people living with sexual health issues, service users within Hertfordshire, community and voluntary groups, corporate businesses, educational organisations, housing providers, local authorities, NHS trusts, youth services, and members of the public.

If you wish to take your first steps towards volunteering, this one hour Teams session will aim to answer the how, where, when, why and what of volunteering. The session will cover an understanding of volunteering and its roles, volunteering with benefits, researching volunteering roles and identifying skills. This online session is for anybody who is looking to embark on their volunteering journey.
