Making A Difference Volunteer Update

Communities 1st will be hosting its Annual Conference for the VCFSE sector on Tuesday 16 July and we would like to invite you to come along. 

What can you expect? 

You will have the opportunity to catch up with the Communities 1st team about the latest volunteering opportunities in your local area and share your experiences with other volunteers too. 

You can also meet with other member organisations, listen in on interesting presentations and attend workshops. 

Time: 9:30am until 2pm

Why not come along to support the members of your local community at our creative cafés. Apart from welcoming visitors and helping with activities this year, we also want volunteers to be able to become Energy Agents. In this role you will be able to help people make informed decisions about their energy usage, conserving energy and safety. 

If you would enjoy delivering this helpful advice to people in your community who need it, please get in touch with a member of the team or sign up on your volunteer dashboard.

Our Creative Café spaces are available across Hertfordshire and every week from Monday to Friday in Hertsmere. Find out which is closes to you below: 

• Mondays - Windsor Hall Community Centre, Borehamwood from 10:30am to 2:30pm. 
• Tuesdays - Phillimore Community Centre, Radlett from 12pm to 4pm. 
• Wednesdays - Aberford Community Centre, Borehamwood from 12pm to 4pm. 
• Thursdays - Farriers Way Community Centre, Borehamwood from 10am to 2pm. 
• Fridays - Organ Hall Community Centre, Borehamwood from 10am to 2pm.

Lots of people across the local community contact Communities 1st on a weekly basis looking for help and support with their gardening. For some people, it is difficult to manage their gardening jobs and they are looking for some help and support. 

If you have a passion for gardening and you have the time to help someone in your local area with simple garden maintenance, we would love to hear from you. The gardening role offers a variety of fun outdoor opportunities such as cutting the grass, planting new flowers and tidying up flower beds.

We also have opportunities to assist with gardening activities within our local community centres where you can actively contribute to the maintenance and care of a space for the community to enjoy!

If you are looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity, that enables you to get out and about all while helping someone in your community then why not consider becoming a volunteer driver. 

Our community car scheme makes it possible for people to attend important appointments as well as meet with friends and family without feeling restricted or anxious about relying on public transport.
