There is a great deal of misunderstanding, myth, and stigma around dementia. Dementia can strike anyone! Our Dementia Friends session is suitable for anyone who would like to improve their knowledge and understanding of dementia and dispel some of the myths surrounding it. This online session will give you the opportunity to learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn the understanding into action. Register here

Have an Air fryer or considering buying one? Looking to cook cheaper and healthier? Come along to our cooking with an Air Fryer 3 hour session. Learn to cook with one, add new recipes and learn about the cost savings. Cooking tips will be provided on this free course along with a chance to taste food cooked in the air fryer. 

Any Hertfordshire resident aged 19 and over is welcome to attend this course. Participants are eligible for the draw to win an air fryer if they have obtained a D grade or below in their Maths GCSE (or equivalent), or are in receipt of any benefits.

This course is for anyone wanting to run or be involved with Inclusive Dance sessions. It is suitable for a wide range of people who are involved with dance and disabled people in many ways. This could include dance teachers who wish to open their services to all abilities, those involved with sports and social groups, and people with a focus on disability and the care environment.

The IDT will equip you with the tools you need to start your journey into Inclusive Dance or develop your existing skills. There are fully funded spaces available for teachers and individuals living in Hertfordshire.

It is imperative that you are able to attend all the dates specified so as not to miss essential information. However should unforeseen circumstances arise, we will be able to record the live session in order for you to catch up. Please note sessions are not normally recorded so you will need to notify us with appropriate warning if you are unable to attend.

The total fee for the course is £650.00 which will need to be paid in full prior to the course start date. Bursaries are available for Hertfordshire residents (deposit of £50 pounds refundable on completion).

Once we have received your payment in full we will then register you to have access to our eLearning platform and zoom links for the live sessions.

This course will cover everything you need to know about book keeping for your small organisation. The 6 modules will cover:

-Module 1: introduction to bookkeeping

-Module 2: setting up your bookkeeping system

-Module 3: templates of financial records

-Module 4: understanding self-assessment and national insurance

-Module 5: VAT

-Module 6: universal credit for the self-employed

Members can join this course for £25, and non members can join this course for £40.

Introduction awareness session for staff and volunteers in the voluntary sector. Healthcare staff and the public on how to be better at talking about death, dying and loss which covers bereavement. The session will be a look at why don’t we talk about death? what a good death is for yourself? communication techniques​, empathy vs sympathy​, some the theories of loss and what to do and say. The session is to help people feel more confident in supporting people who might have a palliative care diagnosis and those who are bereaved. We will explore the social context of death and dying, considering the impact on good end-of-life care and bereavement support.

Please note this is an online session on Zoom and is being delivered by Alison May, Community Engagement Manager, Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care.

Ever wondered what the landscape of gambling harm looks like for women? It's a topic that often get overshadowed, but understanding women's experiences is crucial to creating more inclusive support.

That's why GamCare is offering two new events to support to gain a deeper understanding of gambling harm and how to find the support that is available.

Would you feel confident enough to act in an emergency? Practice live-saving skills with the help of Hertfordshire Fire Service. Free CPR Awareness sessions are being run by fire crews at Borehamwood and Elstree Fire Station and the Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership.

At the sessions, participants will learn about the recovery position, how to deal with an unconscious person who isn't breathing, CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

The sessions will take place at Borehamwood Fire Station on these following dates:

• Thursday 18 July, 10am to 11am
• Tuesday 20 August, 7pm to 8pm
• Friday 20 September, 2pm to 3pm
