Ahead of the general election on Thursday, I am pleased to share with you a collection of policy statements developed in partnership with our local charity partners. These statements, covering eight important areas, reflect the real experiences and expertise of those working within our communities.
I acknowledge that it this comes very close to the election date, but it is our hope that policymakers will engage with these policy statements positively, reflecting on their content and their implications for the communities they serve.
However, this is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we wish to engage constructively with decision-makers to ensure that our sector is supported and empowered to make a tangible difference in the community.
The eight statements include:
- Overcoming cost-of-living challenges and unlocking social mobility
- Bridging the digital divide and eradicating the poverty premium
- Promoting health and wellbeing
- Advancing equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Empowering communities through volunteering
- Enhancing learning, skills, and employability
- Addressing environmental and climate change issues
- Strengthening the collaboration between the state and the
- voluntary sector
Additionally. there are two more statements to follow, one focusing on children and young people and another one on older people.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our voluntary sector members for their important contributions to these policy statements. Together, we are stronger and better positioned to influence local strategies that prioritise the needs and voices of our communities.
Best wishes
Stephen Craker
