It’s a leap year and we have a bonus day! What are you going to do with the extra day? Will it be starting something new or strengthening a skill or simply taking a restful break! Whatever you chose to do, take care of yourselves and if you chose to learn something new, why not attend our training courses? 

Take the opportunity to learn about the five steps to mental and physical well-being on our Mental Health Awareness sessions. These introductory sessions are in person and provide a good understanding of recognising symptoms, the support available and managing our well-being better.  

If you are self employed and keeping business records and expenses and you find these as time consuming and tedious, we have an introductory course. To learn to set up a basic bookkeeping system and creating financial reports, sign up here. 

Dancing is a joyful experience and sharing this with your service users can be rewarding for them. Our Inclusive Dance training is for anyone involved with dance and disabled people. This could include dance teachers, sports and social groups and people with a focus on disability and care. 

This week is Eating Disorder week. This year the campaign is shining light on a condition with very little recognition called Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. More information and resources are available here Eating Disorder Awareness.

Introduction to Air Frying

Have an Air fryer or considering buying one? Looking to cook cheaper and healthier? Come along to our cooking with an Air Fryer 3 hour session. Learn to cook with one, add new recipes and learn about the cost savings. Cooking tips will be provided on this free course along with a chance to taste food cooked in the air fryer. 

Any Hertfordshire resident aged 19 and over is welcome to attend this course. Participants are eligible for the draw to win an air fryer if they have obtained a D grade or below in their Maths GCSE (or equivalent), or are in receipt of any benefits.

Mental Health Awareness

There is an increasing acknowledgement of the importance of the role of mental health in the wellbeing of individuals and the community as a whole.  Being aware of your mental health can substantially reduce long term physical and mental health conditions and the stigma around it. 

The objectives of this course, that is aimed at residents across Hertfordshire are:     

• To be able to recognise stress and anxiety and other mental health conditions.
• To have a good understanding of what support is available to people with mental health conditions.
• To be able to manage stress in day-to-day life.

Deaf Awareness and Basic BSL

Attend this deaf awareness online workshop and learn about effective ways to communicate with deaf people, as well as some basic sign language.

Participant coming to this session will gain the confidence and basic skills to communicate with those who are living with deafness and hearing loss. It will enable them to understand deafness, signs, body positions and communicating.

There will be time for a Q&A time at the end of this session.

Inclusive Dance Training

This course is for anyone wanting to run or be involved with Inclusive Dance sessions. It is suitable for a wide range of people who are involved with dance and disabled people in many ways. This could include dance teachers who wish to open their services to all abilities, those involved with sports and social groups, and people with a focus on disability and the care environment.

The IDT will equip you with the tools you need to start your journey into Inclusive Dance or develop your existing skills

It is imperative that you are able to attend all the dates specified so as not to miss essential information, however should unforeseen circumstances arise then we will be able to record the live session in order for you to catch up. Please note sessions are not normally recorded so you will need to notify us with appropriate warning if you are unable to attend.

The Total fee for the course is £650.00 which will need to be paid in full prior to the course start date. Bursaries are available for Hertfordshire residents (deposit of £50 pounds refundable on completion).

Once we have received your payment in full we will then register you to have access to our eLearning platform and zoom links for the live sessions.

Free Suicide Prevention Training 

This online course is aimed at frontline professionals and volunteers whose role may bring them into direct contact with people experiencing suicidal thoughts and ideation. The session will equip participants with practical skills to have a supportive, controlled and effective conversation, assess and respond to risk and signpost to relevant support services.
